Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. One of her first Broadway shows include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford's next venture will be a limited-edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in March 2023 when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in over a century. She was in two seasons of popular CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides his time between Los Angeles.
